In the CoX Shaman room, use ranged damage from a controlled position, Protect from Missiles for ordinary ranged attacks and poison protection. Move away from jumps and purple spawns instead of assuming the overhead answers every special. Focus one Shaman at a time whenever the layout allows it.

This article covers Lizardman Shamans inside Chambers of Xeric. It is not a surface dragon-warhammer farming guide: raid scaling, room barriers, seed drops and the purpose of the encounter are different. Temple-specific safe positions and smaller attack areas should not be copied into the raid without checking them.

Prepare for the raid version

Check whether the generated layout includes Shamans before starting the raid. The room has at least two in a small raid and adds more at larger scales. An inventory intended for one stationary surface Shaman can be inadequate when several raid enemies attack at once.

Bring a functional ranged weapon, suitable ammunition or charges and poison treatment. A long-range option can make controlled pulls easier. A blowpipe can work, but its shorter reach makes it especially important to watch whether an attack click pulls you towards melee range or into another enemy’s view.

The raid Shamans use the same broad attack set as their surface counterparts, with a stronger poison-blob threat. Full Shayzien armour can mitigate that mechanic, but carrying an armour set has an inventory cost. If using a smaller raid loadout, your plan must include dodging rather than pretend ordinary ranged armour provides Shayzien protection.

Do not confuse poison immunity with immunity to the blob’s direct hit. An antipoison or Sanfew serum handles the poison problem; movement and suitable armour address separate damage. Keep a dose and healing accessible before provoking the room.

Enter without pulling the entire room

Look at the nearest Shaman and the obstacles before attacking. Target one that the team can engage without everyone running through the chamber. A single focused kill reduces the number of active threats sooner than splitting low damage across all targets.

Room tendrils restrict attempts to fight from outside the encounter. Do not plan on standing beyond the doorway and treating the boundary as a free safespot. Pull and position within the actual room, with enough space to leave special attacks.

When using a long-range weapon, confirm where the character stops after the attack click. Range depends on both the weapon and its setting. A safe-looking initial tile is not enough if the next target is farther away and the character automatically runs towards it.

In a team, agree the current target and keep an escape lane clear. If another Shaman has engaged someone unexpectedly, call it so the team can reposition and finish the intended kill rather than unknowingly distribute attacks across different enemies.

Read the ordinary attacks and the three special cues

At range, protect against the ordinary ranged attacks. If a Shaman reaches melee distance, respond to the contact rather than keep praying ranged simply because that was correct earlier. They can melee diagonally, so a diagonal tile is not automatically outside their reach.

For the green blob, move promptly out of its target area. Treat a missed dodge as both a damage and poison check: recover health and cure poison if required. Do not spend several seconds deciding which part of the attack hurt you while the next special begins.

When the Shaman jumps, stop attacking long enough to leave the landing area. Move to a clear route, then resume damage when it lands. Repeatedly clicking the airborne target can produce wasted inputs while your character remains at the dangerous previous position.

Purple spawns appear near players, then explode after a delay. Keep moving clear of the whole group, not just the nearest one. Several tiles of separation can be necessary; check the other spawns before stopping to drink or attack again. Avoid leading your explosions through a teammate’s stationary damage position.

Use obstacles as control, not an immunity promise

Some room layouts support long-range pulls and obstruction-based positions that reduce exposure. Their success depends on the enemy’s location, line of sight, weapon reach and the layout. A remembered corner from another room is not a guarantee.

Establish the pull first, then observe what the Shaman can still do. If specials or another enemy can reach you, continue reacting. Do not declare the setup safe solely because one ordinary attack failed to arrive.

Walls and obstructions can affect jump choices, but that does not remove every threat in the room. A learner should still recognise the blob, nearby purple spawns and a second Shaman approaching from another angle.

A useful setup lets you concentrate on one target with room to move. If the pull repeatedly drags the whole team into overlapping attacks, choose a simpler position and a clearer target order instead of forcing a supposedly faster route.

Keep the room’s purpose separate from surface farming

These raid Shamans provide herb seeds for raid preparation. They do not use the surface Shaman’s dragon warhammer drop table, and they do not count for the Sherlock master-clue step requiring a Lizardman Shaman kill. Do not select this encounter expecting it to replace a surface farming trip.

Likewise, a surface guide’s exact damage values, spawn-explosion size in the temple or Slayer-task access conditions are not a universal description of the CoX room. Bring the raid inventory for the current layout, not a copied full trip inventory designed to stay in one surface location for hours.

Ironmen can participate in the raid’s shared supply system, but they still need the relevant equipment and consumables. A team strategy that expects somebody to cover poison treatment or the next preparation job should be discussed before supplies run out.

After the last kill, distribute seeds and restore before continuing. Remove any unnecessary Shaman-specific switch only at an appropriate storage point and keep the weapons needed for the remaining rooms.

Repeated issue

Review this first

Poison continues through prayer

Carry a usable cure/immunity and distinguish it from the direct blob hit

Damage after the Shaman disappears upward

Move out of its previous target’s landing area

Explosions hit while eating

Clear all nearby purple spawns before stopping

Character runs into the pack

Check weapon reach, setting and target distance

Several Shamans remain active for too long

Agree a focus target and avoid unnecessary pulls

Expected dragon warhammer loot

Use a separate surface Shaman route; the raid version drops raid supplies

Make the next clear easier to repeat

Record whether the first mistake was a pull, a range issue, a missed jump, a blob or a spawn explosion. That tells you whether the next improvement is positioning, attention or equipment. More damage does not repair an escape route blocked by the whole team.

CoX preserves regular Hardcore Ironman status on death, while Hardcore Group Ironmen lose a group life. Death still affects points and supplies. Do not use the ordinary account’s tolerance for mistakes as a reason to skip preparation on a group Hardcore.
