Abyssal Sire is easier to learn as three separate tasks: disable the tentacles and destroy the respiratory systems, handle the mobile melee phase, then escape the forced-teleport explosion and finish while controlling the floor. Prepare a weapon for the systems and a sustained main damage method before starting.

This guide follows a Ranged-or-Magic vent opening into melee. It uses the current encounter structure rather than assuming that every old tile diagram, health threshold or transition trick still applies. The objective is one complete controlled kill, then a repeatable trip.

Confirm the assignment and choose a chamber

You need 85 Slayer and an eligible abyssal demon or Abyssal Sire task. Check assignment location restrictions: a task tied to another area is not permission to kill the Nexus boss. The encounter is solo even though the surrounding space is multi-combat.

Fairy ring DIP is a convenient route to the Abyssal Nexus once your account can use the network and has access to the Abyss. Keep the required fairy-ring staff if you have not unlocked staff-free use. The Mage of Zamorak route has different travel consequences, including Wilderness exposure and Prayer drain; do not copy it as an interchangeable bank-to-boss shortcut.

There are four chambers. Use the eyes to check occupancy and select one that is not already being fought. An apparently idle moment in someone else's kill is not a reason to begin attacking. Restore your supplies and inspect the full floor before the opening.

Need

Practical choice

Check

Disorient Sire

Shadow spells, ideally Shadow Barrage.

Correct spellbook, level and runes.

Respiratory systems

A ranged or Magic weapon that reaches them.

Ammunition or charges, plus a path to each target.

Main phases

A suitable melee weapon; demonbane options are useful.

Actual equip requirements, charges and selected style.

Survival

Food, restoration, poison treatment and an exit.

Status protection does not neutralise miasma floor damage.

Prepare the opening before the melee upgrades

Shadow Barrage needs 88 Magic and Ancient Magicks access. It reliably disorients Sire in the opening even if its damage splashes. Lower Shadow spells have lower stun chances; a failed effect is not fixed by immediately running into active tentacles.

You can also disorient him by dealing the required amount of Ranged or Magic damage, but that is a different opening from the guaranteed high-tier Shadow spell. If using an alternative, watch the actual disabled state before moving close to the systems.

The systems benefit from the encounter's updated damage rules. Demonbane weapons can destroy them in one hit when they can reach the target, making a scorching bow a useful specialised option. A conventional ranged or Magic weapon remains a learning route; do not assume an expensive vent upgrade is mandatory for the first completion.

For the main fight, Arclight, Emberlight and other appropriate melee options should be evaluated as complete setups. A charged weapon needs enough remaining charges for the trip. Check the chosen style, usable boosts and your actual damage rather than treating every demonbane weapon as identical.

A player fighting the Abyssal Sire in its Nexus chamber

Around the high 80s or 90s in the relevant combat skills gives a more comfortable learning project, but those are recommendations rather than new access requirements. A slower kill means more time managing minions and floor damage. Plan food for that reality instead of copying an established player's minimal inventory.

Phase one: confirm the stun, then clear four systems

Turn auto-retaliate off. Wake and disorient Sire, allowing the opening animation and actual stun to resolve before approaching a respiratory system. Casting the spell at a sleeping boss does not mean the tentacles are instantly harmless while he is still waking.

Abyssal Sire on its throne at the beginning of the encounter

Switch to the vent weapon and work through the four systems. Choose a clear side-to-side route so you are not repeatedly crossing the room to finish one low-health target. Watch whether the tentacles begin recovering while you move; re-stun rather than spending attacks into their damage protection.

If you cannot finish all four in one window, use a second controlled stun. A one-window opening is an efficiency goal, not a prerequisite for completing the encounter. Record whether delays came from movement, switching, weapon range or insufficient damage before deciding which upgrade would help.

When the last system is destroyed, prepare the melee setup and protection. Keep an eye on Sire's movement instead of assuming that the end of the vent animation means you should already be attacking from a random distant tile.

Phase two: melee protection does not remove floor movement

Use Protect from Melee while fighting the mobile Sire. Some damage can pass through protection, so maintain health rather than allowing the bar to fall because the overhead is correct. Stay within the intended close-range encounter instead of trying to turn the whole phase into a distant safespot.

Miasma can appear under you. Move at least two tiles away onto a clear position, then resume damage. The dangerous area is wider than one central tile. Antipoison helps with the status effect; it does not allow you to stand in the pool without taking damage.

Keep the camera wide enough to see both the boss and the ground beneath your character. A common failure is noticing a health drop, opening the inventory and eating while remaining on the source of damage. Move out first when possible, then restore health once the position is controlled.

Spawns can develop into stronger scions if left alive. A developed setup may finish phases quickly enough that it does not need to target each one; a slower learner should judge the incoming damage rather than copy an unconditional instruction to ignore everything.

Recognise the move to the final phase

When Sire leaves the earlier position and settles toward the middle, prepare for a different threat pattern. He stops using the ordinary melee sequence and produces more minions and floor hazards. Ranged protection becomes useful against the stronger minion pressure.

During transitions you can still see damage, but reduced damage and transition rules mean a large hit is not permission to skip the remaining mechanics. Continue watching the boss's actual state. Do not spend the entire transition trying to force a speed trick from an old video.

Keep a clear escape direction before his health reaches the teleport stage. An inventory full of optional weapons is less useful than knowing which tile you will click when your character is moved.

Forced teleport: run away before attacking again

When Sire forcibly places you beside him late in the encounter, immediately run directly away, at least two tiles, before the explosion. Do not click him as the first response. That attack click can leave you in the blast while the character tries to continue damage.

After the blast, re-establish a controlled attack position and continue avoiding miasma. Keep protection and health appropriate for the minions. Taking one successful escape as proof that all remaining movement is unnecessary can turn a nearly completed kill into another failure.

The finish can become harder if too many spawns have matured. If the remaining supplies cannot sustain a controlled attempt, leave. A successful teleport escape is progress even when the current kill has to be abandoned; use that knowledge to improve the next opening and reduce phase duration.

A first-kill sequence to rehearse

  1. Check the assignment, chamber, spellbook, vent weapon, main weapon and exit.

  2. Wake and stun Sire, then confirm the tentacles are disabled.

  3. Destroy all four respiratory systems, repeating the stun when necessary.

  4. Switch to melee and Melee protection, moving clear of each miasma pool.

  5. Recognise the middle transition and update protection for the minion-heavy finish.

  6. Run directly away after the forced teleport, then resume controlled damage.

  7. Stay healthy through the final attacks, collect loot and decide whether another kill fits the reserve.

Practise the spell-to-weapon and weapon-to-melee transitions at the bank. Leave the exit and key supplies in fixed slots. Reducing search time in the inventory gives more attention to the next pool and movement cue.

Unsired: a reward roll, not a finished bludgeon

An unsired is taken to the Font of Consumption to obtain a reward. It can produce several different outcomes, including abyssal equipment, a bludgeon component or the orphan pet. Receiving one is not a guarantee of a particular item or a complete weapon.

The abyssal bludgeon project requires the different components and the relevant assembly step with the Overseer. Plan it as a repeat-task goal rather than a fixed number of kills. Keep the actual component collection separate from the value assigned to tradeable rewards.

Mains can compare the complete trip cost with other uses for an abyssal demon task. Ironmen may value an equipment project, but need to include the recurring runes, charges and potions. A supply-heavy learner attempt should not be described as guaranteed profit because the boss can drop a rare weapon.

Recovery, Hardcore and the next improvement

Sire is dangerous for HCIM status and HCGIM lives. Nearby players do not make the solo encounter safe, and some area effects can threaten someone who is merely close to a fight. Keep out of another player's chamber while preparing.

Review your actual Items Kept on Death and return route before carrying the full setup. UIMs must plan their own deathpile and any existing retrieval storage instead of relying on bank-based recovery advice. Avoid taking another unsafe trip while valuable items are still held elsewhere.

After a few attempts, identify the first recurring problem: a failed stun, a slow vent route, eating on miasma, the forced teleport or a minion-heavy finish. Fix one section at a time. Use the Magic training guide for spell preparation and the Slayer planning guide for task decisions and sustainable supplies.
