Theatre of Blood Entry Mode is a place to learn the six encounters with reduced difficulty and unlimited retries. Bring all three combat styles, a poison-capable weapon and a plan for Verzik’s movement. A first clear can be completed solo or with a patient team; you do not need a normal-Theatre equipment setup simply to begin.
This OSRS ToB Entry guide follows the whole raid, with extra attention to Nylocas colours and Verzik’s three phases. Entry deaths still cost Hardcore status. Unlimited attempts are a learning feature, not a promise that the activity is safe for every account.
Entry, the quest and the session plan
Travel to Ver Sinhaza and use the notice board to create or join an Entry Mode party. Confirm the selected mode before starting. The raid supports up to five players, while Entry’s scaling also supports solo completion. Plan enough uninterrupted time for six bosses and retries; leaving the raid means starting it again.
If your goal is A Night at the Theatre, speak to the Mysterious Stranger and follow the quest journal as well. A Taste of Hope and its prerequisite chain are required for that quest. The Theatre completion is one part of the quest, which has additional tasks; a chest reward alone is not proof that the whole quest is finished. A previous raid completion can also count toward its requirement.
Around the 80s in your relevant combat skills is a useful learner preparation goal, with all protection prayers and enough Hitpoints to recover from mistakes. That is guidance, not an entry gate. A small complete switch and understood mechanics matter more than copying a costly gear screenshot.
Bank checks that prevent a late restart
Bring | Purpose | Check |
|---|---|---|
Fast melee weapon and defender | Bloat, grey Nylocas and melee damage | Correct attack style and wield requirements |
Fast Ranged weapon | Green Nylocas, ranged learning routes and switches | Usable ammunition, scales or charges |
Magic weapon and appropriate runes | Blue Nylocas | Spellbook and casting supplies; Ancient bursts are useful if available |
Poisoned weapon, such as dragon dagger(p++) | Verzik’s purple healing Nylocas | Confirm the poison suffix rather than bringing an ordinary dagger |
Insulated boots | Reduce Verzik phase-two electric-ball damage | 37 Slayer to wear; useful especially for solo learning |
Pack stamina, healing and Prayer restoration for the first two bosses. Brews need restores because they drain offensive stats. A modest armour switch leaves more healing space than a full set for every style. Equip each planned combination once and keep switches, food and restoration in fixed slots.
Entry supplies ten bandages after Bloat and ten after Sotetseg, with additional bandages after deaths. Bandages heal, restore Prayer and run energy, and boost combat stats. Your health and Prayer also recover after each boss. Collect the supplies before proceeding, but do not copy this resource plan into normal Theatre.
Maiden: avoid feeding the boss
Use melee or Ranged and Protect from Magic. Move off targeted blood puddles; standing in blood both damages you and heals Maiden. Keep an open route rather than placing repeated puddles across the area you still need.
At the red-spider spawns, switch attention to the Nylocas walking toward her. Kill or damage them before they reach the boss to reduce their healing. Entry spiders are much less demanding than their normal counterparts, so focus on recognising the spawn rather than assuming a normal-mode freeze assignment is mandatory.
Blood spawns can leave more puddles as they move. Avoid chasing one with melee through a trail. If Maiden takes most of your opening supplies, identify whether missed puddles, forgotten Prayer or weak damage caused it before repeating the same approach.
Bloat: hide, wait, take a short damage window
Keep the central pillar between you and Bloat while he walks. His flies punish line of sight; protection is not a substitute for staying on the other side. Watch falling-limb shadows and move away before they land.
When he stops and drops to his knees, approach for a short melee damage window. For an early attempt, take a few controlled hits and retreat behind the pillar before he wakes. Do not greed another attack after losing track of the down time. A Salve amulet can help against this undead boss if your setup supports it.
After the kill, collect the first bandage allocation, restore and arrange all three combat styles for Nylocas. This is a useful checkpoint to ensure that the Magic weapon and ammunition are actually ready.
Nylocas: match the colour before clicking
Colour | Required damage style | For the large boss |
|---|---|---|
Grey | Melee | Protect from Melee |
Green | Ranged | Protect from Missiles |
Blue | Magic | Protect from Magic |
The small Nylocas attack players or pillars. Switch to the correct style and reduce the pressure before several accumulate. A fast Ranged weapon helps clear greens, while Ancient bursts or barrages can control clusters when you understand the targets. Do not fire a random spell into mixed colours simply because they are close together.
Large Nylocas split into smaller ones, and timed explosions can damage nearby players. Keep the centre manageable and watch pillar health. In a team, agree style responsibilities; in a solo, keep the three weapon slots easy to reach. Losing every pillar fails the room.
Nylocas Vasilias starts grey, then changes colour. Change protection first, select the matching weapon, and attack again. A style switch is not finished until the correct target is being attacked. Prioritise that controlled sequence over clicking repeatedly during the colour change.
Sotetseg: distinguish small projectiles from the big ball
Small red projectiles mean Protect from Magic; small grey projectiles mean Protect from Missiles. Melee distance also exposes you to melee attacks. If using melee, manage that protection between projectile responses, or use the team’s agreed learner positioning and maintain enough health for unblocked hits.
The large red ball is a different mechanic and cannot simply be blocked with Magic protection. In a team, stack as instructed to share its damage. In solo Entry its damage is reduced, but preserve health for it rather than assuming every red projectile behaves alike.
In the shadow realm, follow the red safe path and use controlled clicks at turns. A long diagonal click can cut across dangerous tiles. In teams, communicate the route and follow the visible path without overtaking through unknown squares.
After Sotetseg, collect the second bandage allocation. This is the final supply chest before Xarpus and Verzik, so finish rearranging here.
Xarpus: manage the floor, then stop on the stare
At the start, stand on the active exhumed tiles to stop their projectiles healing Xarpus. During the poison-spit phase, a Ranged learner route lets you move around the outside in a consistent direction. Move roughly two tiles after each targeted spit, keeping clear of its impact and the permanent puddle.
Do not fill the next section of your own route by wandering unpredictably. Keep space available for later movement, and avoid crossing old poison to recover a missed attack.
After the screech, Xarpus watches a quadrant. Stop attacking while you are in the area he is looking at. Take a controlled attack when he turns away, then click the ground to stop if necessary. This phase can be taken slowly; continuous auto-attacking while watched is the mistake to avoid.
Before the final room, pick up Dawnbringer from the skeleton. Prepare the poisoned weapon, insulated boots and supplies where you can reach them.
Verzik phase 1: Dawnbringer and pillars
Confirm the party is ready before speaking to Verzik. Use Dawnbringer’s special to damage her shield, then hide behind a pillar before her charged attack. The pillar must be between you and the boss; standing beside a pillar without blocking the line is not the same protection.
In a team, pass Dawnbringer after using your available special attacks so another player can continue. When the shield phase ends, move away from the pillars as they collapse. Restore and switch to your next-phase weapon rather than staying beside falling cover.
Verzik phase 2: attack, move and handle the spiders
Start with Protect from Missiles and move off the tile targeted by each thrown bomb. A Ranged approach gives a learner room to watch the timing. If using melee, step in to attack and immediately step back out; remaining next to her on the next bomb can cause a knockback and stun.
Equip insulated boots for the electric-ball mechanic, particularly in solo. They reduce damage rather than making you invulnerable. Teams should follow the correct spacing and bounce plan; do not assume solo damage handling transfers unchanged when teammates die.
Use the poisoned weapon on the purple healing Nylocas. Avoid or kill the exploding Nylocas before contact. When red healing Nylocas appear, stop attacking Verzik and damage those targets; continuing damage into her healing window undoes progress.
Late in this phase, around 35% health, her attacks shift toward Magic, so change to Protect from Magic. Keep watching movement rather than treating that prayer switch as the whole phase.
Verzik phase 3: prayer cues and four specials
When her front legs stomp and a dark-green swirl appears, protect Ranged. A bright-blue electrical aura signals Magic. Avoid lingering in melee distance, especially if she is following you; her close-range attack is not solved by copying one overhead.
Her repeating specials are Nylocas, webs, yellow pools and a green ball. Avoid the exploding spiders. During webs, keep moving around her without doubling back through the trail; teammates can attack a trapped player’s web. At yellow pools, take one pool per player and remain until the incoming attack lands.
The green ball needs the group’s bounce handling; solo Entry requires a health reserve for its unavoidable damage. Do not confuse it with the ordinary Magic cue. Keep enough health to survive while learning the sequence.
At low health, the purple tornado follows you while the other mechanics continue. Choose the next clear movement segment before attacking, keep Prayer and health stable, and do not run back through the tornado. Yellow-pool timing during this stage deserves extra attention: reach protection, wait for impact and resume movement deliberately.
After a death, clear or quest completion
Use Entry’s retries to correct a specific mechanic instead of repeating an unchanged attempt. Collect the provided bandages and repair the inventory before restarting. Ordinary equipment is retained on Entry deaths, but manually dropped items can be lost. Hardcore status is still at risk, and account-specific deathbank planning should distinguish Entry from other Theatre modes.
Claim the reward after finishing, then continue the quest journal if that is your objective. Entry offers reduced common loot and no normal unique or pet chance. Its purpose is learning and progression, not farming a scythe.
Before joining normal Theatre, learn its role assignments, resource system and stricter timing separately. A successful Entry clear is a useful foundation. Use the OSRS PvM progression guide if the next useful improvement is still combat training, prayer control or a better-supported equipment setup.
