Kree’arra is a demanding first God Wars boss because his Ranged attack hits every player in the room. Keep Protect from Missiles active while he is alive, bring a real healing plan and expect damage from the attacks that remain unblocked. A team speeds up the kill, but it does not give one tank responsibility for everyone’s safety.

This OSRS Kree’arra guide covers first Ranged kills, team preparation and the decisions behind later solo methods. It explains the unusual defence interaction, bodyguard handling, a basic step-under rhythm and when chinchompas or Shadow become separate learning projects.

Access: crossbow, grapple and 70 Ranged

Armadyl’s Eyrie is the south-west wing of God Wars Dungeon. You need 70 Ranged, which cannot be boosted, plus a crossbow and mithril grapple to cross the gap. Bring these travel items even if your combat weapon is Bowfa or a twisted bow. An expensive bow is not a substitute for a crossbow at the grapple obstacle.

Use the dungeon route after defeating Dad in Troll Stronghold or an unlocked Ghommal’s hilt teleport. A rope is needed on the first dungeon visit. Wear the appropriate faction items for the central route, then Armadyl and Zamorak protection in the eyrie. God protection applies while worn and does not stop aggression inside the boss room.

The normal entry needs 40 Armadyl essence. Hard, Elite, Master and Grandmaster Combat Achievement rewards reduce the threshold to 35, 30, 25 and 15. An ecumenical key is another option. Armadyl followers include aviansie, which consume kills from a matching Slayer task, so consider that trade-off when deciding how to obtain entry.

Choose a first-kill setup honestly

Although 70 Ranged grants access, around 85 or higher Ranged and strong Defence are more comfortable preparation targets. High Hitpoints and adequate Prayer restoration matter because bodyguards and Kree’s Magic damage remain active. These are recommendations; they do not guarantee a certain trip length.

Route

Useful example

Practical limitation

Ranged learner team

A suitable crossbow, compatible enchanted diamond bolts, Ranged armour and a defensive shield

Individual low-cost setups can be slow; every player still needs healing and Prayer

Bowfa or twisted bow

Bowfa with crystal armour, or a supported twisted-bow setup

Two-handed weapons give up the shield; charges and damage must support the trip

Chinchompa solo

Red or black chinchompas plus a direct-damage backup weapon

Needs deliberate lures, targeting and a separate supply budget

Shadow method

Tumeken’s shadow with strong supporting Magic gear

Large setup cost and a different defensive profile

Choose one complete route. Adding a few chinchompas to an unfamiliar crossbow setup does not supply the target-switch timing, and replacing a Ranged weapon with an ordinary powered staff does not reproduce Shadow’s performance. The first checkpoint may be one controlled kill rather than a long farming trip.

Kree’arra, the winged Armadyl general

Protect Ranged and understand the Magic attack

Kree’s grey tornado is Ranged and can hit 69. His blue tornado is Magic, with a maximum hit of 21, but its accuracy checks your Ranged defence bonuses. That unusual rule makes Ranged Defence useful against more than the grey attack. It does not turn Protect from Missiles into protection against all damage.

Both tornado attacks can hit everyone in the room and knock players back unless positioned in the room’s corners. Keep Protect from Missiles active throughout the boss kill. Do not switch it off to save a few Prayer points while rearranging food or looking at a teammate.

When Kree is not being targeted, he can approach and use melee. If you eat, switch targets or interrupt attacks, reassess what he is doing before treating a previous position as safe. A corner helps control knockback; it does not prevent the Magic attack and bodyguards from hitting you.

Pack for the damage that gets through

For a short crossbow trial, a practical starting layout is one Ranging potion, six super restores, a one-click teleport, Bones to Peaches tablets and the mithril grapple. If the crossbow is already equipped, those ten items leave eighteen slots before travel protection, healing switches and loot space. Fill most remaining room with high-healing food and adapt after the trial.

A blood-spell switch can improve sustain, but requires Ancient Magicks, the relevant Magic level, runes and adequate accuracy. Add those items by removing some food deliberately. Do not bring the staff and forget runes, or assume a rune pouch always contains the spell you last used elsewhere.

Saradomin brews are another healing option. They reduce offensive stats, so restore and reboost as appropriate rather than repeatedly attacking with a drained Ranged level. Keep restoration doses available for the overhead itself. An inventory full of healing that cannot maintain Protect from Missiles is not ready for another kill.

A first team kill

  1. Check entry together: same world and room type, enough essence or a key, high health, active boosts and working teleports.

  2. Pray before crossing: everyone activates Protect from Missiles and their chosen offensive prayer.

  3. Settle at the agreed corner: attack Kree directly and watch whether knockback or pathing moves you away from that position.

  4. Keep attacking and healing: do not rely on someone else being “the tank.” Call out low supplies before the next spawn.

  5. After Kree dies: remove bodyguards, recover health and Prayer, collect selected drops and reset before another attempt.

Agree loot rules before starting. Main-account teams can share damage and decide splits. Ordinary Ironmen need an eligible solo method; another player tanking or damaging the encounter can spoil loot eligibility. Group Ironmen should coordinate under their group’s rules rather than copy a public-team assumption.

Solo direct Ranged: reduce exposed time

A common direct-Ranged technique is to attack, step under Kree, then emerge for the next attack when your weapon is ready. With a rapid crossbow or twisted bow that means working around a five-tick attack cycle; Bowfa on rapid uses four ticks. The purpose is to spend less of the gap between your attacks exposed to his faster attacks.

Start with Protect from Missiles active. Take a shot, deliberately click a tile beneath his body, then retarget when the next attack is ready and repeat. Confirm that you actually moved under him; a click beside the model is not the same action. Keep the boss targeted between cycles as appropriate so an interruption does not invite an unexpected melee approach.

This needs timing practice. Eating, a mistimed attack and moving to collect loot all alter the rhythm. If you lose it, heal and regain a stable position before attempting more precise movement. Do not add prayer flicking to the same first attempt: maintain Ranged protection and learn one variable at a time.

Know the bodyguards and rebuild health

Bodyguard

Style

What to manage

Flight Kilisa

Melee

Positioning or a deliberate freeze; it can remain a source of damage while you protect Ranged

Wingman Skree

Magic

Unblocked Magic pressure; a useful first target after the boss

Flockleader Geerin

Ranged

Maintain protection as needed while clearing or healing

After Kree dies, killing Skree first can simplify the remaining healing phase. Kilisa and Geerin can be stacked for blood spells when your method supports it; do not force a stack at critically low health. With suitable bones from all four enemies, Bones to Peaches can provide four peaches, or 32 Hitpoints of healing.

Use food drops as support without assuming one appears each cycle. The normal boss respawn is 90 seconds. Restore health, check ammunition and Prayer, and choose whether the remaining inventory supports another kill. The room altar has a ten-minute Prayer-restoration cooldown and needs you out of combat.

When chinchompas make sense

Chinchompas can deal indirect damage to Kree by targeting a lower-defence bodyguard positioned so the area hit also reaches him. That accuracy interaction is why the method exists. It depends on correct overlap, and Kree’s relevant position for the splash includes his south-west tile; throwing at any nearby minion does not automatically hit him.

The method also needs target switches back to Kree between attacks to manage his melee behaviour. If the bodyguard dies, switch to a direct-damage weapon rather than throwing into a broken setup. Learn the full lure and targeting sequence before committing an expensive stack of chinchompas. A conventional team can usually concentrate on direct Ranged damage instead.

Rewards, recovery and a useful next trip

Kree drops Armadyl helmet, chestplate and chainskirt at listed individual rates of 1/381, plus the Armadyl hilt at 1/508. These are independent kill opportunities rather than a guarantee by that killcount. The Armadyl crossbow comes from Commander Zilyana, not from Kree’s ordinary unique table.

This is a dangerous fight. Normal gravestones appear outside the boss room, while loose ground items can be lost if a private instance is abandoned. Bring faction protection and the appropriate access tools for recovery. Ultimate Ironmen need a separate death plan and Hardcore accounts risk status. Keep a one-click teleport reachable even when rearranging drops.

After your trial, identify whether the limiting resource was damage, healing, Prayer or execution. Stronger gear helps only part of that list. The OSRS PvM progression guide can help choose a more useful preparation goal before you spend more supplies forcing the same short trip.
