Hespori combines a Farming timer with a short solo boss fight. You need to grow the boss before fighting it, clear flowers when it becomes immune and harvest the dead patch afterwards. This guide takes you from obtaining the seed to replanting for the next attempt.
Grow the encounter before planning a kill
You need access to the Farming Guild’s west wing, requiring 65 Farming; this requirement can be boosted. Plant an untradeable Hespori seed in the special patch inside the cave. You cannot buy the seed from the Grand Exchange or turn an ordinary tree seed into one.
Hespori seeds come from eligible Farming activities, including checking the health of various trees, bushes and cacti, final harvests of some plants, and Farming contract seed packs. Continue your normal Farming progression and keep any seeds you obtain for future kills.
Growth takes approximately 22–32 hours depending on planting time. This is not an encounter you can instantly repeat just because you have a stack of seeds. The flower outside the cave blooms when Hespori is ready. The patch does not need watering, compost or disease protection.
Bring a seed dibber to plant unless your relevant Barbarian Training removes that need, a rake if weeds require clearing, and a spade for harvesting. Keep another Hespori seed for replanting after the kill.
Bank check | Recommended preparation | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
Combat route | A fast slash weapon with suitable melee gear | Hespori has low slash defence; a dragon scimitar is a practical example. |
Flower tool | Fast darts, knives or another fast attack option | Each open flower dies to one successful hit, regardless of its displayed health. |
Poison and recovery | Antipoison, food and prayer restoration | Protection prayer does not solve poison or every source of incoming damage. |
Farming tools | Spade, next seed and planting tools as needed | The reward is collected by clearing the dead patch, followed by replanting. |
Escape and recovery | Usable teleport and awareness of the retrieval fee | Death uses Arno’s item retrieval service rather than a risk-free restart. |
Choose melee or a real fire-spell alternative
A slash melee setup is a simple default. Around 60 in the melee combat skills is a reasonable starting recommendation, not an entry requirement. Use a weapon you can maintain through the fight and bring enough food to recover from a root mistake.
Current Hespori also has a substantial fire weakness, making an appropriate fire-spell setup a viable alternative for some accounts. Fire Blast requires 59 Magic. Bring the actual runes and equipment for your chosen spell rather than assuming any Magic attack receives the fire benefit.
Your flower-clearing method should work quickly with either route. Switching to darts or knives is useful, but remember to switch back to your boss weapon and correct attack style afterwards. A forgotten switch can make the next phase feel much slower than it should.
Start safely and clear the opening flowers
Hespori does not attack immediately when you first enter the cave. Use that time to arrange equipment, boost and activate your chosen protection prayer. Attempting to harvest the ready plant with a spade wakes it and starts the fight.
Four surrounding flowers open at the start. Hespori is immune while the flowers are active, so attack each one before returning to the boss. Although they have 10 hitpoints, one successful hit kills a flower with any weapon. Fast attacks make the circuit quicker.
The flowers reopen when Hespori reaches roughly 66% and 33% health. When your damage suddenly stops at one of those thresholds, look for open flowers instead of repeatedly clicking the boss. Clear all four again, then resume damage.
Run a consistent circuit so you do not overlook the flower behind your character. There is no reward for maintaining attacks against an immune boss while a flower remains open.
Mechanic | Response | Common error |
|---|---|---|
Open flowers | Kill all four, then attack Hespori. | Continuing to hit the invulnerable boss. |
Magic and ranged attacks | Match protection to your equipment’s weaker defence and maintain prayer. | Assuming the prayer makes every attack deal zero damage. |
Poison | Use antipoison and continue watching health. | Trying to cure poison by switching protection prayers. |
Entangling vines | Repeatedly click to move or attack until you break free. | Clicking once and waiting through the root. |
Dead Hespori | Clear the patch with a spade and replant. | Leaving before collecting the Farming reward and loot. |
Protection prayer and the vine attack
Hespori uses both Magic and Ranged. Protect from Magic paired with armour that handles Ranged is a straightforward melee approach; a setup with stronger Magic defence may instead use Protect from Missiles. Neither prayer removes every hit, and even the protected matching attack can deal reduced damage.
Bring antipoison: Hespori’s poison starts at four damage. Keep an eye on health during flower circuits, when it is easy to focus only on targets and miss ongoing damage. Restore prayer before the bar empties rather than waiting for the overhead to disappear.
When vines trap you, repeatedly click to move or attack until free. You have a short window, approximately six seconds, before the dangerous follow-up. One click followed by waiting is not enough. Continue responding while the chat indicates the vines are loosening.
After escaping, confirm that you are attacking the intended target and that your protection is still active. If flowers have reopened, clear them before returning to damage. Keep the response simple: break free, stabilise, then resume the current phase.
Collect the reward and prepare the next plant
After the combat ends, use your spade to clear the dead Hespori patch. This is how you collect the loot and the 12,600 Farming experience. The final combat hit alone is not the complete reward sequence.
Plant your next Hespori seed before leaving if you want the next growth cycle to begin immediately. Check that the new plant is actually in the patch, especially if you brought a different seed or forgot a required tool. Set expectations around the growth window rather than planning another immediate kill.
The bottomless compost bucket and anima seeds are useful long-term rewards. A Hespori seed and an anima seed serve different purposes; keep them distinct when organising your Farming supplies. No particular valuable drop is guaranteed by a short streak of kills.
If you die, Arno’s retrieval service charges 25,000 coins to recover stored equipment. Another unsafe death before retrieval can lose those stored items. Recover first and treat this as an unsafe encounter for Hardcore Ironman accounts.
For repeated attempts, identify the actual bottleneck. Slow flower circuits need a faster targeting routine; large root hits need repeated escape clicks; poor sustain may need better protection and more food. Increasing damage alone does not fix those errors.
Choose the next account upgrade
Use the OSRS PvM progression guide to connect this encounter to your next unlock. Improve the repeated mechanical error first, then choose equipment that solves a specific damage, range or sustain problem.
