Araxxor is a solo Slayer boss where controlling the floor matters as much as dealing damage. Learn the hatch order, keep venom protection active and leave yourself a clean escape before the final phase. This guide uses a practical melee approach and separates the basic kill from optional damage tricks.

Fighting Araxxor among eggs and venom pools inside the spider cave

Requirements and the first trip

You need 92 Slayer and an eligible spider or araxyte Slayer assignment to fight Araxxor. A specific Araxxor boss assignment also works. Access to Morytania requires Priest in Peril. A task requirement is separate from having the level: check both before travelling.

A spider cave teleport is the direct travel option. Alternatively, use fairy ring ALQ and travel south to the cave. The Darkmeyer shortcut is another route if you have its access requirements, 63 Agility and have supplied the two long ropes.

The encounter is instanced and solo. Treat death as unsafe, including on Hardcore Ironman. A normal grave appears outside the entrance; recover your equipment before taking another risky trip. Your first goal is one controlled Harvest kill, rather than a long inventory or a fast time.

Practical choice

Reason

Main weapon

Your strongest sensible crush weapon

Araxxor is more vulnerable to crush than to other melee styles.

Small-spider switch

Crossbow or another suitable ranged weapon; a halberd is an alternative

Deal with Mirrorbacks without standing in ordinary melee range.

Protection

Venom protection, food and prayer restoration

Ordinary antipoison alone is not equivalent to sustained venom immunity.

Escape

A usable teleport and enough health to survive a mistake

Do not let a missed floor movement turn into a death.

Optional defence special

A suitable defence-reducing special weapon

Useful, but movement and a reliable main weapon come first.

Set up the fight before the first hatch

Turn on Protect from Melee and your offensive prayers before committing to the boss. Protection reduces Araxxor’s melee damage; it does not remove it completely. Stay close enough to use your melee weapon reliably and watch your own tile as well as the next egg.

Moving far away does not automatically make the encounter safer. Araxxor can use Magic or Ranged when you are outside melee range, choosing according to your defensive rolls. Learn the close-range fight first instead of improvising a long-distance kite.

Nine eggs surround the arena: three of each colour. The first hatch follows three auto-attacks, and later hatches occur every six. Hatching proceeds clockwise from the south-eastern egg. The colour of that egg also determines which venom special is used during that kill. Identify it immediately, then track the next hatch as you attack.

What appears

Learner response

Mistake to avoid

White Mirrorback

Use ranged attacks, or a halberd from outside ordinary melee reach, to remove it promptly.

Ordinary close melee hits cause reflection; leaving it alive also makes damage to Araxxor hurt you.

Red Ruptura

Keep clear of its explosion. Luring it into the boss is an optional later optimisation.

Standing beside it while concentrating only on the boss health bar.

Green Acidic araxyte

Control where it dies and keep a clear route around the resulting acid.

Killing it on the only safe space you intended to use next.

Green-first special: straight acid projectile

Move out of its path and away from the impact splash.

Running along the projectile path or hugging its impact point.

White-first special: wide acid spray

Move onto clear floor and check the surrounding arc before attacking again.

Following the boss through fresh acid because your previous attack was interrupted.

Red-first special: dripping acid

Keep moving across clear tiles while the effect continues.

Dropping successive pools onto your escape route.

Handle adds without losing control of the room

Mirrorbacks have two separate costs: they redirect part of the damage aimed at Araxxor and reflect ordinary close melee hits against themselves. A ranged switch gives a simple answer. Change weapon, kill the spider, then return to your main weapon and verify your attack style.

Hatched araxytes have special guaranteed-max-hit interactions with eligible crush or heavy ranged attacks, and with the noxious halberd. This does not apply to unhatched eggs. Whether a particular hit kills an add still depends on the weapon and your maximum hit; do not assume every low-tier weapon will one-shot everything.

Ruptura explosions can damage Araxxor and eggs when positioned well. For the first few kills, simply avoid the explosion. Add the lure only when you can predict the hatch and still keep the floor under control. An advanced damage trick is useful only if it does not cost the kill.

Defence reduction has a cap: Araxxor’s base Defence of 135 can be reduced by 45. One successful elder maul special reaches that cap, while a successful dragon warhammer special gets close. Repeating specials after reaching the cap wastes energy that could serve another purpose.

The final 25%: react to Skree

At 25% health, Araxxor enters an enraged phase and attacks faster. Stop treating the fight as a normal damage race. Watch for the Skree cue and the cleave aimed at your previous position. The attack leaves acid behind, so surviving the hit is only half the movement check.

A straightforward dodge is two tiles sideways or one tile backwards onto clear floor. If you dodge backwards, allow an extra tick before attacking again so your character is not pulled immediately back into the newly dangerous space. Choose the direction before the cue when possible, and never dodge into an existing pool.

Stepping underneath the boss is an advanced alternative. It is unnecessary for learning a consistent kill. Aranea boots can block a cleave periodically, but they do not make venom pools harmless and should not replace reacting to the cue.

If you have to eat, preserve safe positioning first. Restore prayer before it reaches zero, then resume attacks from a clean tile. One missed attack is cheaper than repeatedly walking through acid to maintain damage.

Harvest or Destroy: choose before clicking

After the kill, Harvest is the normal choice for account progression and ordinary rewards. Araxxor’s fang and the noxious halberd components are among the long-term goals. Do not plan equipment purchases around a promised number of kills or a fixed hourly profit.

Destroy forfeits the normal rewards, apart from the elite clue exception, in exchange for a doubled pet chance. You cannot inspect the ordinary loot and then decide to Destroy. If you want supplies, equipment progress or your first normal reward, choose Harvest.

Before repeating, check venom protection duration, prayer restoration and your ranged switch. If most of your food disappeared in the final phase, practise choosing the cleave escape tile earlier. If damage spikes while a white spider is alive, fix the Mirrorback response before buying a more expensive weapon.

Choose the next account upgrade

Use the OSRS PvM progression guide to connect this encounter to your next unlock. Improve the repeated mechanical error first, then choose equipment that solves a specific damage, range or sustain problem.
